A CARDIGAN woman has been handed a community order after being caught driving just six days after being disqualified.

Sarah Wilson of 6 Trenchard Estate, Parcllyn, was disqualified from driving by magistrates on 5 October for drink-driving, but was caught by officers driving on 11 October in Cardigan, Aberystwyth magistrates heard on Wednesday.

The court heard that Wilson, 29, “couldn’t get her head around being disqualified” and had made “no plans for how her children would get to school”.

Magistrates were told that Wilson was driving her two children to school when she was pulled over police after registration number identification equipment flagged up the car as uninsured.

She told police that she “thought she had a week to sort things out” after she was disqualified.

Wilson pleaded guilty to driving her Ford Mondeo while disqualified, and also to a separate offence of driving without insurance.

Magistrates made her the subject of a 12-month community order, including 60 hours of unpaid work.

Wilson was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge, and was disqualified from driving for an additional 12 months.
