FOUR Bangladeshi men have been arrested and are now facing deportation after a raid was carried out at an Abersoch restaurant by immigration officers.
Acting on intelligence, Immigration Enforcement officers visited East Meets West on the High Street in Abersoch on Friday, 9 September.
Four Bangladeshi nationals aged between 31 and 56 were arrested for allegedly working illegally and overstaying their visitor visas.
The men are currently in immigration detention facing removal from the UK.
The business was served a notice warning that a financial penalty of up to £20,000 per illegal worker found will be imposed unless the employers can demonstrate that appropriate right-to-work document checks were carried out, such as seeing a passport or Home Office document confirming permission to work. This is a potential penalty of up to £80,000 for the Abersoch restaurant.
This is the second raid at the Abersoch Indian restaurant within three years. In 2013, three Bangladeshi men were arrested.
