An Aberystwyth woman woke to find a strange man sitting on her bed, a judge has heard.
Despite shouting at him to leave, Peter Inglis, 34, told her, “Come on, you know you want to”.
Inglis kissed her for about 20 seconds before zipping up his trousers and leaving.
Inglis, of 30 Gwêl Afon, Penparcau, admitted sexual assault and was jailed for 18 months.
John Hipkin, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court the woman had spent much of the night at Bronglais Hospital after an incident concerning a relative.
She got home about 6am and fell asleep.
Two hours later she woke to find Inglis on her bed.
“He must have got in through an unlocked door,” said Mr Hipkin.
“She was left worried and scared. She says that now she cannot stay at home during the night on her own.”
Inglis’ DNA was found on a bottle inside the property and he was arrested.
He told police he could not remember what had happened.
The court heard Inglis already had a conviction for indecent exposure.
His barrister, Ian Ibrahim, said he had had “a skinful of drugs and drink” and had fallen over and hit his head on a kerb.
“The rest of the night is a blur,” he added.
Inglis, who works for a civil engineering company, was also made the subject of a restraining order banning him from contacting the victim for 10 years.
