Two men and a woman who admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm were told that jail sentences would be the most likely outcome.

Charity Penny, aged 53, of Heol y Felin, Penparc, near Cardigan, David Griffiths, 38, of Anwylfan, Aberporth, and Ianto Grant, 23, of Pistyll Gwyn, Llandeilo, had been due to go on trial at Swansea Crown Court.

At the last moment each pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm to Andrew Lane on 18 February 2019.

John Hipkin, prosecuting, described the assault as “serious” but gave no further details. Ian Ibrahim, the barrister representing Penny, said the mother of two had an “unattractive” criminal record.

Judge Keith Thomas said he would sentence the trio on 26 July after a probation officer had prepared reports into their backgrounds.

But he warned them that custodial sentences were the most likely outcome. All three were remanded in custody meanwhile.
