A man who exposed himself and shouted abuse at his neighbour behaved in a “loutish” way, his solicitor has said.
Peter Andrew Inglis, 33, of Penparcau, admitted exposure and disorderly conduct intended to cause harassment during the incident which saw him filmed while shouting “If I get my d*** out in my garden will I get done?”
Magistrates heard there had been a history of a neighbourly dispute, but that on 20 October Inglis was seen by his neighbour to be walking up and down past their house shouting verbal abuse and swearing while drunk.
Prosecutor Rhian Jones said the abuse continued despite Inglis’s young son pleading with him to stop before Inglis then shouted about “getting my d*** out” before he intentionally exposed himself, with Ms Jones saying Inglis, of 30 Gwel Afon, was laughing while doing so.
Ms Jones said Inglis’s neighbour had felt intimidated and threatened during the incident, especially when Inglis told him to “come outside and see what happened”.
Defence solicitor Iestyn Davies said Inglis had been “embarrassed and apologetic” when he saw the footage filmed on a phone.
He said the incident was just the latest as part of the dispute with Inglis’s neighbours, but added: “This is has resulted in some pretty loutish behaviour while in drink for which he’s embarrassed and apologetic.”
Presiding magistrate Haydn Davey said magistrates had considered sending Inglis to prison before deciding to follow a probation service recommendation. He said: “This was a particularly unpleasant set of offences.”
Inglis was made subject to a community order for nine months and will have to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days, including a referral to a support agency to address issues with alcohol.
He was also fined £400 and will pay costs £170.
