A MACHYNLLETH man attacked his 20-year-old daughter after they argued over whether he was using illegal drugs.

Steven Glanfield, 56, choked his daughter and bit her nose after the argument at their home at Garth Lodge, Garth Caravan Park, on 12 May.

Glanfield pleaded guilty to assaulting Kaya Glanfield and criminal damage after he smashed Ms Glanfield’s phone and assaulted her.

Prosecutor Rhian Jones said Ms Glanfield had accused her father of using drugs, which he denied, but when she refused to believe him Glanfield “lost his temper” and grabbed his daughter by the neck and pushed her up against the wall, squeezing her throat before Ms Glanfield managed to push him away.

Ms Glanfield told police that she found herself on her back on the floor without realising how it happened and her father got on top of her before biting her nose while she struggled and kicked out.

After Glanfield got up he had his daughter’s phone and refused to give it back, but when she tried to get it he threw it outside, smashing it.

Ms Jones said Ms Glanfield had suffered cuts and bruises to her neck and shoulder, as well as a small cut to her nose, while Glanfield himself had also suffered a small cut during the incident.

Magistrates said they wanted a pre-sentence report and adjourned sentencing until 20 June, releasing Glanfield on conditional bail.
