LLANDYSUL Police Station will be closed for a number of weeks after attempts appear to have been made to torch the building.

Unidentified liquid was found poured over the premises in New Road.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman confirmed that work would be undertaken to repair the damage that was caused and it was likely that the police station would be closed for several weeks.

Chief Inspector Steve Davies said: “We are making every effort to ensure disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.

“There will continue to be a police presence in and around Llandysul as officers continue to patrol.”

• A Llandysul man accused of attempted arson has appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates.

Aled John Morgan, 36, of 35 The Beeches, is charged with attempted arson of the police station on 4 September.

He is also charged with trespassing with intent to cause damage and criminal damage to furniture and computers.

No pleas were entered.

Magistrates sent the case to Swansea Crown Court after declining jurisdiction and remanded Morgan into custody until a hearing on 6 October.
