A MAN has appeared in court charged with offences of strangling and beating a woman in Aberystwyth.

Jordan Allen, now of 108 Pargeter Road, Smethwick, West Midlands, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on 22 September.

The 24-year-old is charged with three counts of assault on Alex Richards in Aberystwyth between 5 August and 7 September.

A charge for assault on 5 August also includes occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Allen is also charged with intentional suffocation of Alex Richards between 5 August and 1 September.

Allen entered not guilty pleas to two charges at the hearing.

He is next due to appear at Swansea Crown Court on 21 October for a plea and trial management hearing ahead of a proposed trial.

Magistrates remanded Allen into custody until that hearing date due to the “nature and seriousness” of the alleged offences.
