A Borth man was “courting disaster”, an inquest has heard, by taking heroin while suffering from a severe heart complaint.
Bruce John Robb, 57, died in May from a heart attack after taking heroin, an inquest into his death heard at Aberystwyth.
Mr Robb had not been seen by neighbours in his block of flats in Cambrian Terrace for five days, when on Wednesday, 9 May, they decided to kick his door down after becoming “increasingly concerned.”
They found Mr Robb dead on the sofa.
The inquest heard that he had taken heroin and was planning on taking more, when he died.
A full syringe of the drug was found at his feet.
Morphine was also found in his system.
A post-mortem revealed that Mr Robb had “serious cardiovascular disease”.
HM Coroner for Ceredigion Peter Brunton told the inquest: “Mr Robb had severe heart disease and was courting disaster by taking these particular drugs.”
Mr Brunton recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.
