A LLANGOEDMOR man dragged his former partner’s mother five or six feet as she clung onto his car door, a court has heard.
Gethin Wynne Davies, of Pantgwynne farm, had denied assaulting his ex-partner Alice Bolland and causing actual bodily harm to her mother, Wendy Jones, in the early hours of 8 November, but was convicted after a trial on 17 December.
Kevin Challinor, prosecuting, said Davies had turned up at Ms Bolland’s home in the early hours and had been about to leave in his car when Ms Bolland and her mother tried to stop him as he had been drinking.
But Davies, 24, had pushed Ms Bolland into a car causing her to bang her head and continued trying to leave in his car.
Ms Jones had grabbed hold of the car door in an attempt to stop Davies leaving, but he reversed and the open door hit Ms Jones, knocking her to the floor.
Davies, though, continued reversing with Ms Jones still holding onto the door, dragging her backwards over several feet before she ended up in a puddle.
Mr Challinor said that Ms Jones suffered scratches and bruising to her left leg, side and arm with substantial bruising and grazing.
Defence solicitor Stephen Welch said: “He is lucky, and the complainant is lucky, that it wasn’t more serious.”
Mr Welch said Davies is currently not employed, but was hoping to sell a herd of 190 cows that he owns to provide an income for himself.See this week's south editions for the full story, in shops and online on Wednesday
