A PENPARCAU man shocked members of the public when he shouted abuse at police officers on Aberystwyth’s promenade, a court has heard.
Michael Brian Parker, of 96 Heol Tynyfron, admitted disorderly conduct on 19 June.
Prosecutor Rhian Jones told magistrates that Parker had reacted abusively towards police officers after they approached him.
Ms Jones said an officer on duty on the prom was approached by a member of the public who warned that it was about to “kick off” near the shelter.
When the officer approached they saw Parker, 38, arguing with a woman.
When the officer asked if everything was okay, Parker told the officer to “f*** off” as it was nothing to do with them.
Despite being warned about his language, as members of the public were nearby, Parker continued to shout and swear at the officer and was eventually arrested.
As he was being taken away, Parker shouted at the woman and said: “Thanks for getting me f****** arrested."
Alan Lewis, defence solicitor, said Parker was “genuinely very embarrassed” by his behaviour and apologised to the officer and members of the public.
He said Parker had been drinking on the day and didn’t really remember what had happened to spark the incident.
While Parker has previous convictions, Mr Lewis said Parker had been out of trouble for three years and had made improvements in his life.
Parker was fined £40 and will pay costs of £115.
