A CILGERRAN man, who was found to be in possession of cocaine and amphetamine, has been fined £600.
Alun John Jenkins, of 2 Penllyn, admitted possession of 1.53g of cocaine and 39.3g of amphetamine found by police when Jenkins was stopped while driving on 31 May.
Helen Tench, prosecuting, said police stopped Jenkins while he was driving at around 3pm. As an officer approached the driver’s side of the car, Jenkins was seen to move something from the central console to his pocket and was said to seem nervous and was shaking.
When the officer said they were going to search 28-year-old Jenkins he admitted that he had amphetamine on him.
Police found several small wraps of white powder with tests showing that some of it was amphetamine and some cocaine.
Defence solicitor David Williams said Jenkins had cooperated fully with the police and had admitted drug possession.
He said Jenkins had been struggling after the break up of a relationship and had turned to drugs thinking it would help him “feel better”.
Mr Williams said since his arrest Jenkins had not used any drugs and had gone to his GP to seek help for his mood.
Jenkins was ordered to pay costs of £145.
