A MAN who headbutted a student after gatecrashing a party is seeking help for alcohol issues, magistrates have heard.
Darrell Thomas Boden, 26, admitted assaulting Alex Mason in Aberystwyth on 25 September after Mr Mason had asked Boden to leave a private party.
Prosecutor Kevin Challinor told magistrates that Boden, of 1 Bow Street in Dudley, had turned up at the party at Mr Mason’s house which was invite only.
Mr Mason and his girlfriend saw Boden, but didn’t know him so approached him.
After Mr Mason’s girlfriend asked Boden to leave, he refused and when Mr Mason asked him to leave Boden asked Mr Mason if he wanted to “go outside”.
Boden then headbutted Mr Mason in the face, causing his nose to bleed.
After Boden was pushed outside, he was seen in the street with clenched fists and waving his belt around shouting threats to people inside Mr Mason’s home before running off.
Mr Challinor said that, following the attack, Mr Mason had suffered soreness and swelling to his nose and had gone to his GP about his injury.
Defence solicitor Iestyn Davies said Boden felt he had an issue with alcohol and was seeking help for that.
Mr Davies said he had told Boden that a community order with assistance from the probation service could help him do that.
Boden was given a 12-month community order and will have to complete 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days as well as 80 hours of unpaid work.
He will compensation to Mr Mason of £300 and costs totalling £145.
