AN Aberystwyth man who had been drinking heavily spat blood at a bouncer and a police officer after being refused entry to the Academy, a court heard.
Billy Valentine, 18, admitted charges of assault on doorman Nigel Bowden, assaulting a police officer and disorderly conduct after an early morning incident where he threatened to kill police officers and passers-by and said he was prepared to go to prison for murder.
Rhian Jones, prosecuting, said Valentine, of the flat above the Vale of Rheidol pub, was struggling with door staff at the Academy in the early hours of Monday, 29 May.
Mr Bowden, a door supervisor at the Angel Inn, went over to assist staff and helped to restrain Valentine, whose face was covered in blood as he had earlier headbutted the door and cut himself.
While Valentine was being restrained he spat at Mr Bowden, hitting him in the face with blood and spittle with some of it going into Mr Bowden’s mouth.
When Valentine was outside waiting for police, he hurled abuse at passers-by and started making threats that he was going to “hammer you all” to people in the area, including police officers.
He then told officers that he was going to kill them and would be going to prison for murder.
During the incident Valentine spat at one officer, hitting him on his clothing, before he was taken to Bronglais Hospital for treatment.
In an interview Valentine told officers he had been very drunk at the time and couldn’t really remember the full incident.
He said that things had “got out of hand” with the bouncers when he was refused entry to the Academy as he was drunk and that he “went mad” as he thought door staff had damaged his phone.
Defence solicitor Alison Mathias said Valentine had not been in trouble before, but had been struggling to cope with a bereavement at the time and had gone out and drunk heavily.
She said that Valentine couldn’t remember a lot of the incident, but said: “He was quite horrified to hear how he had behaved. He is very apologetic and is very very remorseful.”
Ms Mathias said Valentine had thought his phone had been damaged by door staff and had gone back to talk to them about it but “wasn’t getting the answers he wanted” and had lost his temper.
Valentine was given a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and a six-week curfew which will run between 8pm and 7am.
He was also ordered to pay compensation of £50 to Mr Bowden and £19.99 to the police officer he spat at.
He was also ordered to pay costs of £170.
