A MAN was tasered and arrested after entering a Machynlleth shop early on Wednesday morning and allegedly becoming “verbally abusive” and “throwing glass bottles around".

A man entered the Co-op store and petrol station on Doll Street at around 6am on Wednesday, 13 November, police said.

“He became verbally abusive and was throwing glass bottles around the shop, leaving staff members concerned for their safety,” a police spokesperson told the Cambrian News.

“Despite police efforts to diffuse the situation, he continued throwing and smashing glass bottles at officers, which led to officers utilising taser to bring the situation under control.”

Police said a man suffered cuts to the side of his body from broken glass and was taken to hospital.

“A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, criminal damage and affray and remains in custody,” the police spokesperson added.
