An Aberystwyth man threatened to “lay out” a pub barmaid after she asked him to leave the pub.
Daniel Kevin Harris, 31, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct toward Raine Eaday at the Vale of Rheidol pub on 22 December, as well as to criminal damage of two police cells by spitting, throwing wet toilet paper and urinating in the cells.
Prosecutor Kevin Challinor said Harris had been with another man in the Vale of Rheidol, when Ms Eaday said Harris had been “flirty” towards her.
Ms Eaday initially laughed off the comments but said that when her arm was on the bar, Harris started stroking her arm.
She eventually asked Harris, of 6 Fifth Avenue in Penparcau, and his friend to leave, but Mr Challinor said Harris told her: “How are you going to make me? If you touch me, I’ll lay you out.”
Mr Challinor said Harris also took a beer pump tag and threw it and while his friend was ushering him out, he picked up a bar stool in a threatening manner.
Following his arrest, Mr Challinor said Harris started spitting and throwing wet toilet paper in the first police cell he was put in, and after he was moved to a second cell, he started spitting and urinated in that cell.
Defence solicitor Alan Lewis said Harris was “genuinely remorseful” and, despite not seeing CCTV, accepted Ms Eaday’s evidence, saying that when he’s been drinking heavily he can behave in an inappropriate way.
Mr Lewis said Harris was battling issues with alcohol and had been seeking help from agencies and was making progress, despite a recent blip.
Harris was made subject to a community order for 12 months which includes a curfew that is electronically monitored for 12 weeks between 9pm and 7am.
He will pay costs of £175 and compensation to the police of £220.
Harris was also banned from the Vale of Rheidol pub for 12 months.
