A man who threatened to “kill and bury” people he did not know in Aberystwyth during a drunken tirade in November has received a suspended prison sentence.

Christopher Jason Lambert, formerly of Heol Isfoel, Llanrhystud and who now lives in Runcorn, admitted using threatening behaviour towards two neighbours on Park Avenue, being drunk and disorderly in a public place, and assaulting a police officer, when he appeared before Aberystwyth magistrates.

Lambert, 48, threatened Charlie-Anne Prowse and Latisha Maliappa outside their Park Avenue homes on 5 November last year after a night out.

The court heard Lambert was “shouting aggressively” and the two neighbours had looked out of their homes to see what was happening.

He told them, “I will bury you, I know where you live now” and began banging on Miss Prowse’s door.

Miss Prowse and Miss Maliappa called the police after becoming “concerned” about the behaviour.

Lambert warned that “by the time the police get here I will have killed you and all your flatmates”, the court heard.

Lambert became verbally abusive and kicked out at an officer while being arrested when police turned up at the scene.

The court heard that Lambert does not recall the incident and had got himself into a “terrible state” through drinking after the breakdown of a 20-year relationship which had “ended terribly”.

“He is mortified by his behaviour and all he wants to do is apologise,” the court heard.

“He understands the severity of the incident.”

The court heard that, since the incident, Lambert has stopped drinking completely and moved to Runcorn to be closer to his family.

Lambert was sentenced to 21 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months, and fined £100.

He was ordered to pay compensation of £50 each to Miss Prowse, Miss Maliappa and PC Chattun.

Lambert must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and a surcharge of £122.
