A MAN found with a class B drug at an Aberystwyth music event has told magistrates he will steer clear of drugs in future.

Shaun Kalesnikovs, 29, admitted possession of a drug known as Alpha-PVP, during a drugs search when he attended the Black House event at Aberystwyth Arts Centre on 3 October.

Prosecutor Kevin Challinor said routine drug searches were being carried out with police finding Kalesnikovs with a crystalline substance in a tobacco pouch.

Mr Challinor said the offence meant Kalesnikovs had breached a conditional discharge which had been imposed in March for possession of cannabis.

Defence solicitor Janem Jones said both the Alpha-PVP and cannabis that Kalesnikovs had been in possession of had been minimal amounts and that he was apologetic for the latest offence.

She said Kalesnikovs of Cottage Farm, Boyton, Bridlington, Yorkshire, had assured his partner that he would not be involved in drugs any more.

Ms Jones said that the conditional discharge, which had been imposed for a year, had run a substantial period of time without any problems.

Magistrates imposed a new 18-month conditional discharge, but ordered Kalesnikovs to pay costs of £100 and a court charge of £180.
