THREE Aberystwyth men have escaped prison after admitting affray and assault in an Aberystwyth takeaway, despite being warned previously that prison sentences were “very much on the cards”.

Joshua Glen Betts, 21, of Flat 9, Tan y Castell, 50 Great Darkgate Street; 27-year-old Alexander Eberhard of 1 Heol Isaf in Penparcau and 24-year-old Stefan Anthony King, of 25 Clawdd Helyg in Comins Coch, had all pleaded guilty to affray and assault after an incident at Hollywood Pizza in Pier Street on 27 September.

During the incident, damage was caused in the shop and Nathaniel King was assaulted, with the three defendants admitting causing Mr King actual bodily harm.

All three men were given 18-month prison sentences suspended for two years at Swansea Crown Court.

They will all contribute to compensation to Hollywood Pizza of £180 and to Mr King of £500.

During the hearing in July when the three entered guilty pleas, Judge Paul Thomas had warned them that prison sentences were “very much on the cards” before a pre-sentence report into the three recommended suspended sentences.
