AN Aberystwyth musician has been jailed for 36 weeks after being found guilty of exposing his genitals to young female students at a fashion store.
Maximilien Kelly, 25, was unmasked as a serial flasher after two unanimous guilty verdicts for exposure at the end of a trial at Swansea Crown Court last month.
Kelly claimed the need to “readjust” a testicle swollen to the size of an avocado by a rare medical condition was to blame for inadvertently exposing himself to shoppers at Matalan.
The guitarist suffers from a condition called hydrocele which he claimed had made his testicles swell up to four times their normal size; one to the size of an avocado.
He insisted throughout his trial that the young women he had flashed had really only glimpsed a “readjustment” of his genitals forced on him by his condition.
But the jury took just three hours to reject his version of events before learning he already had six convictions for exposing himself to young female students in the town.
He stood trial having breached a 26-week suspended jail term received from Ceredigion Magistrates Court for flashing his genitals at young girls from his home - having attracted them using a laser pen.
Stephen Rees, defending, claimed Kelly (pictured) had been dealt with “too harshly” previously and argued that he would make more progress if he was spared custody again.
But judge Peter Heywood, sentencing Kelly in Swansea, told him: “I take the view that I would be failing in my public duty if I did anything other than activate that breach.”
