North Wales Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The referral has been made in connection to a murder investigation in Minffordd.
The force said: "Having reviewed the information gathered over the weekend, North Wales Police has referred itself to the IOPC for independent oversight, following recent police contact."
Earlier today, 44-year-old Tony Thomas from Minffordd appeared at Mold Crown Court by video link, charged with the murder of Dafydd Thomas, also of Minffordd.
Tony Thomas was remanded in custody and a provision trial date has been set for 15 November.
