A pervert caught filming men urinating had more than 30 videos on his phone from public toilets in Aberystwyth, a court has heard.

Keith Phillip Braziel, 31, appeared before Caernarfon Magistrates Court last week where he was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to four charges of voyeurism.

Braziel, of Yr Aelwyd, Station Road, Tregaron, was caught when he tried to film a man in public toilets at Ganllwyd, on the outskirts of Dolgellau.

Braziel had held a phone over the top of a cubicle a man was using.

The victim looked up and saw the phone, left the toilets and rang police.

When police caught up with Braziel, they seized his mobile phone.

When they examined it, they found 33 similar videos of people urinating in South Promenade public toilets, near the harbour, and in toilets on North Promenade, in the public shelter between 1 June and 29 July 2017.

Braziel claimed that he had contacted the men online and they consented to being filmed.

Braziel pleaded guilty to the Ganllwyd incident on 29 September 2017 and three similar offences in Aberystwyth between 1 June and 29 July of that year.

Diane Williams, prosecution, said Braziel had intended to record footage of men urinating for his own sexual gratification.

Deputy district judge Gerallt Jones said the offences were a “serious and disturbing course of conduct” and could have led to a prison sentence.

But he considered a community order would benefit both Braziel and the community at large. During the next three years he must attend courses as directed by the Probation Service.

He must also carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £170 costs. His name and address will be included in the Sexual Offenders Register for five years.
