AN ABERYSTWYTH woman has been handed a suspended jail sentence for racially aggravated harassment.
Dawn Pugh Jones, of 7 Northgate Street, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on 22 September where she pleaded guilty to racially aggravated intentional harassment of Aba Camara in Aberystwyth on 24 June.
The court heard that the 40-year-old has a previous conviction for a similar offence.
Magistrates, sentencing Pugh Jones to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months said that while the offence was “so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified”, the sentence was suspended “to give the defendant the opportunity to work with probation.”
Pugh Jones must also pay compensation to the victim of £200 as well as prosecution costs of £100 and a £154 surcharge.
