A TAXI driver crashed into an oncoming car at Llanon, causing his pregnant partner to go into labour, a court heard.
Daniel Davies, 22, admitted a charge of careless driving after the crash on 24 October last year despite defence solicitor Alison Mathias saying that he took issue with some of the prosecution evidence.
Magistrates heard from prosecutor Helen Tench that Davies had been driving on the A487 at Llanon when he had hit another vehicle coming in the other direction.
Ms Tench said the crash led to a passenger in the other car suffering a fractured sternum and the shock of the crash led to Davies’s pregnant partner going into labour and having to be rushed to hospital.
Davies, of 6 Bryn y Mor, Aberaeron, had initially pleaded not guilty to careless driving, but had opted to plead guilty as he would be facing hugely increased costs if he went to trial.
Ms Mathias said Davies had already lost out as cash in his car at the time of the crash had been stolen and never recovered.
Davies was fined £105, will pay costs of £105 and was given three penalty points on his licence.
