Three men have been jailed today for their parts in a violent robbery in Porthmadog.

On 21 February this year, a 23-year-old man was flagged down whilst driving his car on Dora Street.

Three men proceeded to physically assault him – stealing his mobile phone, and speakers from his car.

Officers were able to apprehend the men on the same night, and they have been on remand since. All stolen property was also recovered.

All three pleaded guilty to the offence, and at Mold Crown Court today via video link from HMP Berwyn, Mark Griffiths, 24 from Lon Helen, Caernarfon; Christopher Parry, 29 of Ffordd Maes Barcer, Caernarfon; and Carl Lane, 26 from Church Street, Tremadog, were all jailed for six years.

Speaking after sentencing, DC Aron Humphreys said: “This was an unprovoked and vicious assault on someone who was simply driving home from work. As a result, the victim suffered facial fractures.

“There is no place for this type of behaviour in society. Whilst these types of incidents are very rare in the area, we will relentlessly pursue those who commit such acts of violence and threaten the disruption of local communities.

“We are grateful for the excellent work done in partnership with the Crown Prosecution Service, and we welcome today’s sentences.”
