A man charged with setting fire to the Ty Belgrave hotel in Aberystwyth will stand trial in March charged with arson, murder and inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Damion Harris, 31, of Llwyn On, Pwllhobi, made a further appearance at Swansea Crown Court today before Judge Keith Thomas.

Harris was initially charged with arson with intent but has now been charged with murder following the discovery of the body of a guest.

He has also been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to another guest who fell while trying to escape the blaze.

Harris, who spoke via video link to Swansea prison, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and nationality.

He was not asked to enter pleas at this stage but will be on 20 December during a plea and trial preparation hearing.

Judge Thomas fixed a trial date for 4 March and Harris was further remanded in custody.
