Two men have been jailed for a violent street robbery in Aberystwyth.

Dylan Brandy-Adams and Rhys Pritchard returned to the scene to beat up their victim a second time.

Brandy-Adams, 23, of Parc Dinas, Penparcau, was jailed for four years and Pritchard, also 23, of Llanrhystud, was sentenced to three years and nine months.

They both admitted robbery.

Craig Jones, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that, late on 22 April, Nicholas Holden had been at the home of Catherine Norton in Vulcan Street, Aberystwyth.

Someone repeatedly banged on an outside window and when Mr Holden went to investigate he was confronted by Brandy-Adams and Pritchard.

He was rugby tackled to the ground and then punched and kicked by both men, who walked away with the entire contents of a bag he had been carrying.

Mr Holden realised his bank cards were missing and shouted at the men.

As they began to return he went back inside Miss Norton’s home but Brandy-Adams and Pritchard burst in and kicked him unconscious.

Before leaving, they threw his bank cards at him along with some receipts which by then, said Mr Jones, had the defendants’ fingerprints on them.

After Mr Holden recovered he found that his new Nokia mobile phone and £15 in cash were still missing.

The court heard that Brandy-Adams had 30 previous convictions, some for violence, and had been the subject of a suspended prison sentence at the time.

Dean Pulling, for Pritchard, said this was his first conviction and he now thought it was the most stupid thing he had ever done.

Both had been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the court heard.

Judge Keith Thomas described the incident as protracted and thoroughly unpleasant.

Fortunately, he added, Mr Holden did not appear to have suffered serious injury.
