A Llanidloes man who breached a restraining order by text messaging a woman has been handed a community order by magistrates.

Stephen Evans, of 4 Wellington Terrace, appeared for sentencing before Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on 1 September.

The 46-year-old pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing in August to harassment by breaching a restraining order imposed by Welshpool magistrates in August 2023 by contacting a woman via text message between 1 January and 6 August this year.

Evans was handed a two year community order to include 100 hours of unpaid work and up to 26 days of rehabilitation activities.

He was also made the subject of a two year restraining order and must pay prosecution costs of £85.
