DWYFOR villagers have resorted to purchasing a speed gun to tackle speeding drivers.

Over two years ago, over 200 residents signed a petition urging Gwynedd Council to do more to tackle speeding drivers through Pentrefelin.

Resident Suzanne Millard says the community has all worked together to bring the speeding problem in the village to Gwynedd Council’s attention.

She said: “There are so many residents who worry about the traffic problem here, a number of letters have been written by myself and other residents expressing our concerns that someone will get killed one day.

“I think we are going in the right direction now but I believe we need to bring the speed limit down throughout the whole village as currently there are two 30mph zones and one 40mph zone.

"We really need to push the 40mph zone back past the village hall, as it’s very dangerous for people who are coming in and out of there.”

A Gwynedd Council spokesperson said: “There is a 30mph speed restriction in Pentrefelin. The council’s transportation and street care service would be happy to discuss the matter with North Wales Police who are responsible for the enforcement of speed limits.”
