A woman threatened her husband with two knives during a row that “got out of control”, magistrates have heard.
Mandy Linda Rose Evans, 46, pleaded guilty to assault by threats on her husband George Evans on 2 January at their Llechryd home.
Prosecutor Rhian Jones said Mr Evans had contacted police to report the incident where his wife threatened him with the knives.
He told officers that the couple had been arguing before he said he was leaving, but returned to get some clothes and items.
However, when he tried to leave again Evans, who has been living at 2 Station Road in Cardigan while the court case was ongoing, told him that he wasn’t leaving and grabbed the knives.
Mr Evans claimed that she pushed him up against the wall and “jabbed” a knife at him before threatening to stab him with a 30-centimetre knife.
Ms Jones said that Mr Evans told police that he didn’t want to press charges against his wife and was not supportive of the prosecution.
Defence solicitor Katy Hanson said the couple would be reconciling after the case was concluded with Evans moving back to the home in Llechryd.
She said Evans had been struggling at the time and had no intention to harm her husband.
A community order was imposed for 12 months with 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 80 hours of unpaid work included.
Evans will also pay costs totalling £170.
