A 26-year-old woman who assaulted a youth and threatened his girlfriend has admitted that she has an alcohol problem, magistrates at Dolgellau heard.
After a trial on 10 December Sioned Northey Humphreys was found guilty of assaulting the youth and using threatening behaviour against his girlfriend on the evening of 18 June on Blaenau Ffestiniog High Street.
Reports were ordered prior to sentencing and the court probation officer said that the defendant was known to the probation service.
Crown prosecutor Diane Williams said the defendant punched the young man and tried to punch his girlfriend, but was prevented when the young man protected her.
The probation officer told the court that alcohol was the root of the defendants problems and the officer suggested an alcohol awareness programme and rehabilitation courses by the probation service.
Hywel Davies, defending, said that his client agreed that she would benefit from supervision from the probation service.
Court chairman Keith Lycett said that he had sat on the trial and what happened was a sorry state of affairs and not becoming of anyone, let alone a young woman.
He agreed with the probation officer and placed Humphreys on a 12-month community order with two conditions, that she attended an alcohol awareness course and 20 days rehabilitation activity requirement.
Humphreys has to pay £350 towards the prosecution costs and £100 compensation to the youth and £50 to his girlfriend.
“Take every opportunity of the help being afforded to you by the probation service, it is for your own good, “ the court chairman told the defendant.
