A WOMAN threatened to stab family members and said she would “shank” police officers if they tried to approach her, a court has heard.

Stacey Ann Marie Knight, 21, admitted a charge of affray at her sister’s home on 9 July when prosecutor Steve Davies said she grabbed two knives and made threats toward her sister and brother-in-law.

Mr Davies said police were called to the house in Felinfach after reports that Knight was brandishing a kitchen knife and making threats to people in the house.

Officers were told that Knight had gone to Cardigan to go shopping with her sister and brother-in-law, but had said she wanted to see friends and would make her own way back to their home.

However, Knight’s sister received a message later that day saying that Knight, of South View, Bethania, had got off the bus at New Quay as she needed to use the toilet and was stranded.

She was picked up by her brother-in-law, but when she got back to their home, Knight was described as being upset and angry and became agitated.

Mr Davies said that Knight had grabbed a knife and lunged out with it, telling people in the house to “get away” from her.

After the other people left the property, Knight locked the door telling her brother-in-law that she would “slice you up”.

Police officers tried to calm Knight down, but she warned them she would “shank” them if they tried to enter the property.

However, when officers entered the house they persuaded Knight to put the knives down. Mr Davies said she had damaged some items as there was broken glass on the floor.

Mr Davies said police were told by her sister that Knight had been fine earlier in the day, but that following her return from New Quay she had been upset and angry.

Defence solicitor Stephen Welch said Knight had been drinking that day which he felt had contributed to the incident, but said that Knight had since sought help.

He said he expected magistrates to ask for a pre-sentence report to learn more about Knight before deciding how to sentence her.

Knight was released on conditional bail until a sentencing hearing which will be held on 7 September.
