A MEETING is being held to discuss the future of the threatened day centre in Machynlleth.
The town clerk, Rab Jones, will meet with representatives from the providers of the town’s day centre to find out how the town council can support the service.
Crossroads runs the day care centre in Machynlleth, but with Powys County Council looking to cut the cost of providing day care services there have been concerns over how long the service will be able to run if funding is taken away.
While the county council has agreed to continue to fund the Crossroads service for the 2017/18 financial year at least, a review will be held into day care services across Powys and how a new system could be put in place.
Mr Jones said he would now be trying to arrange a meeting with representatives from Crossroads to gather information about the support currently provided by Powys Council and what sort of level of support may be needed from the town council to ensure the service could continue to run in Machynlleth.
Cllr Michael Williams said he wanted to see action from the town council to protect the day care services in the area, which he said provides excellent services for people across the Dyfi Valley.
