Madam,

We are facing a youth centre crisis! It is modern-day neglect of our youngsters.

Our youngsters are facing the axe but there is no need for it. The government continues churning out “austerity” excuses, eight years on from when our children were affected through cutbacks to local authority funding.

Now they wish to hit our kids more directly by dumbing down and shutting youth centres. These advocates of “austerity” (mostly Tories) display a modern-day form of neglect of our children’s opportunities. These cowards, gleefully, willingly and with gusto sign off papers for further cuts to councils, yet remain in a state of semi-paralysis when it comes to collecting public funds.

Tories should prioritise the £120bn per annum missing from our coffers due to corporations and super-rich individuals avoiding their tax obligations. Compare £270,000 youth cuts with £120bn uncollected taxes; not rocket science is it!

The above figures justify no need for cuts? Why won’t the Tory regime pursue this money collection with any venom? Maybe many of those who practise it, bankroll and fund the Tory party.

Maybe your readership, particularly parents, with kids who are impacted, need to write to our councillors and remind them how the likes of Starbucks, Google, Topshop, Vodafone, Gary Barlow, Lewis Hamilton, The Monarchy (and many more) contribute to the neglect of children’s services by their immoral actions.

Yours etc,

R Jones, Blaenau Ffestiniog.
