AN INTREPID teacher and 15 other courageous cyclists have tackled a 300-mile charity ride though two countries to raise money for his wife, who has been battling cancer.

In July last year, Caryl Anwyl, a teacher at Ysgol Ardudwy, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of just 36.

In order to celebrate Caryl’s recovery and the fantastic work of the breast cancer care nurses in north Wales, Caryl’s husband Elfyn, who also teaches at Ysgol Ardudwy, concocted the idea of an epic charity bike ride and have so far raised £7,500.

Starting in the Anwyls’ home town of Harlech on 30 May, Elfyn, joined by group of family and friends, cycled from Harlech to Holyhead, travelled over to Dublin and down to Rosslare before crossing back to Fishguard.

The fatigued team cycled up to Aberystwyth before cycling back to Harlech in front of a triumphant crowd last Saturday (2 June).

The novice riders were understandably jubilant and have raised over £7,500 following their gruelling challenge.
