FAIRBOURNE’S slipway is out of action for the foreseeable future.
The “extremely dynamic” beach and constant bombardment by waves, especially during high tides and strong winds, has rendered the concrete ramp unsafe for the public causing Gwynedd Council to section it off.
When asked about the closure, a Gwynedd Council spokesperson said: “The concrete ramp on Fairbourne beach was recently inspected and due to the extent of the damage, it has been closed to the public.
“The council will be undertaking further assessments in order to determine what action can be taken.
“The position of the ramp does inevitably affect coastal processes in this area and as such, the council will need to determine the effect of the ramp on coastal processes.”
