A COURAGEOUS daughter and a band of ‘heroes’ are trekking the breadth of Wales to support her father in his battle against cancer.
The group, who will all be flamboyantly dressed as their personal idols, will begin near Oswestry before arriving in Tywyn on Sunday, 25 September, after a three-day hike covering 75 miles.
In April, Neil Holding was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, which was aggressively treated with chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
Neil will be in Tywyn himself to welcome his friends, family and colleagues to the finish line.
So far a series of fund-raisers have raised nearly £10,000 for Cure Leukaemia, an organisation dedicated to treating and curing blood cancers, with the group hoping to raise a grand total of £15,000.
Neil’s daughter Zoe is one of the participants taking up the cross-country challenge and she was feeling somewhat apprehensive.
She said: “I’m nervous and excited as I’ve done no training and 75 miles over three days is going to break me!
“I’m thrilled my dad’s going to be there though. He was let out earlier this week as the cells have started to take to his body and his immunity is rising."
