Work could start on building Bow Street’s new railway station soon after planning permission for the scheme was granted.

The development, which will see a transport hub provided, is expected to cost around £8 million and local councillor Paul Hinge said he was pleased that progress was being made after the scheme was held up by issues around the planning application.

But Ceredigion County Council has confirmed that the application was approved subject to conditions on Wednesday, 25 September, meaning work could begin on the site shortly.

Cllr Hinge, who had said he was happy for the application to be approved through delegated powers to the planning department, said: “I’m absolutely delighted.

“We’ve gone through 23 different plans to get to this point, but it is now happening. We are getting the station.

“I’m hoping we’ll see some movement on the site within the next month, but I don’t know the timescale.”

The development will see the railway station, as well as a bus stop and car park, plus an access road and junctions and a shared use cycle path.
