Madam,
The article in last week’s Cambrian News about the plan to provide dementia nursing care at the newly purchased Bodlondeb in Aberystwyth is welcome news for many families with ageing relatives.
It was with regret that my late father Bill Bristow had to be placed at a home in Llandovery instead of being accommodated locally when dementia was diagnosed in 2009. As good as the home was we were unable to visit more often than once a week due to the lack of public transport to that part of Wales.
I do hope that the plan to include EMI nursing beds at Bodlondeb will come to fruition and that the new owner(s) will receive support from both Ceredigion County Council and Hywel Dda Health Board so that our dementia patients can stay within the local area instead of friends and relatives having to travel long distances in order to see their loved ones.
Yours etc,
Sue Slocombe, Llanon.
