Madam,
Taking to the streets in Aberystwyth on Saturday, 28 November, people came together to unite with other global events and be part of this global march for climate change, ahead of the climate change talks in Paris happening last week.
For many of us the impact our current ways of life have on our planet is a no brainer. The signs or symptoms are apparent globally in ever-expanding deserts, rising sea levels, dangerous carbon levels rising in our atmosphere etc, and maybe Ceredigion will get even wetter! Yet despite wind and the rain, many people turned out to join the march for climate change on Saturday, banners and spirits held high.
There is an urgent need for action which crosses party and local politics and petty personal differences. The time has come for all of us including those who represent us here in our unique and spectacular county to come together as in Paris, and be clear in our ambitions and the outcomes we want to see in Ceredigion. How fortunate we are with our landscape to have the opportunity to generate our energy needs and come together at a community level. Sometimes it takes a crisis to get us working together, and this is the biggest threat we face individually and collectively.
The choices we make today are tomorrow’s outcomes. So wherever we are, whoever we speak to, let’s make this change possible, so those who make decisions on our behalf put this at the forefront of decision-making, to halt and reverse what can only unfold as catastrophic and monumental events. We can make a difference and we can make this happen. Our future is now.
Yours etc,Lindsay Thomas,Cribyn,Lampeter.
