TRAGEDY has struck at Glaslyn Wildlife Centre, as all this year’s osprey chicks have died.
Volunteers at the osprey centre announced over the weekend that all three chicks had died, saying “it has been a devastating week and a sad and challenging breeding season for Mrs G and Aran”.
Dad Aran had been unable to feed the fledglings due to an injury, as mum Mrs G grew agitated.
Following the advice of experts, the centre stepped in to provide fish and stopped its live stream of the nest.
Things looked positive for a while, but the centre announced the first death on 23 May followed by the death of the further two chicks last week.
Glaslyn Wildlife centre said: “Thank you to everyone for your kind words and continued support. This is an extremely difficult time and as we are sure you will appreciate, the decision to stop live streaming was not taken lightly.
“Our ospreys are our priority and we assure you we are doing our very best for them.”
