A weather warning has been issued for parts of Dwyfor Meirionnydd, with rain expected to turn to ice overnight as temperatures drop below zero.

The yellow weather warning from the Met Office has been issued from 6pm tonight until 10am tomorrow.

The Met Office say the ice could create “difficult driving conditions”, and people can expect “some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces”, as well as “icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths”.

The weather warning covers parts of Wales and England.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Showers will affect parts of North Wales on Tuesday evening, then parts of northwest England and the northwest Midlands overnight.

“As temperatures fall below freezing some ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces.

“Showers may be wintry on high ground with 1-3cm of snow settling above 300 metres.”
