A FORMER Tywyn Grammar School pupil has won a significant academic award.
Dr Richard Alasdair Armstrong, son of Iris and Richard Armstrong of Maesnewydd, Aberdyfi, has won a prestigious prize for research, the ‘Professor Bernard Gilmartin Prize’ for excellence in vision research.
Dr Armstrong, who spent his school days living in the area, has carried out research into vision and dementia at Aston University Birmingham for many years.
The prize was awarded at a ceremony in old Westminster Hall in London last month.
