ONE of our pallets is missing!

A pair of Mydroilyn dogwalkers have stumbled across a US Postal Service pallet in a Cwmtydu cove just a few weeks after a Borth mum found a boat dispatched by an American school washed up on her local beach.

An “elated” Helen Hinks told how she grabbed the Carolina Dreamer boat – launched as part of an educational project – at the end of its eight-month journey of over 4,000 miles from the US to Borth.

Now David and Meg Longworth have revealed how they unexpectedly came across a US Postal Service pallet on the beach below Castell Bach, north-east of Cwmtydu on Meg’s 72nd birthday walk.

“The warning message it carried – a $1,000 fine AND three years imprisonment — was a bit worrying!” admitted David.

The couple have since notified the USPS of their find.

The USPS website states lost pallets are a constant problem.

“Over the past few years Postal Service has experienced a significant loss of plastic and wooden pallets,” runs a statement.

“Since fiscal year 2005 the Postal Service has spent over $240 million on close to 19 million plastic and wooden pallets, many of which can no longer be accounted for internally or externally.”
