THREE years ago Dylan Walters, of Newcastle Emlyn, decided to raise money for Bobath Cymru – since then he and his friends have raised the grand sum of £30,000!

Dylan chose Bobath Cymru as his granddaughter Ffion, now aged six, suffers from cerebral palsy and Bobath, who are based in Cardiff, provide treatment for sufferers of this condition.

“The Bobath Centre in Cardiff needs to raise £1.3m a year to keep it open,” explained Dylan.

“£300,000 is funded by the local health board, but the centre needs to find the other £1m.

“It’s a huge task and I’m just really happy we can raise funds to help.”

Over the years, Dylan has organised many events, including a football competition, a 12-hour spinathon and a 254-mile cycle challenge from Holyhead to Cardiff, several marathons and half-marathons.

More recently, he organised and took part in a cycling event from Crystal Palace, London to the Eiffel Tower, Paris with several others from the locality to raise funds for a charity very close to his heart.

“I’m so lucky and really overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from friends, family and local people,” he said.
