Students from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor have earned exceptional grades and been offered scholarships by both Aberystwyth and Bangor universities in record numbers this year.

Students from the Pwllheli and Dolgellau campuses have worked hard all year to obtain fantastic grades and many have been offered a place to study at either of the two Welsh universities with financial aid.

Twenty learners from Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor colleges have been offered a scholarship this year, which is a significant rise compared to last year when four students were offered the same scholarships.

Grwp Llandrillo-Menai is extremely pleased that these Welsh universities are investing in the country’s future workforce by offering financial aid to students who have excelled academically. For some, going to university would not be possible without financial support such as this.

Commenting on the scholarships awarded, Gareth Lanagan, general education programme area manager at Pwllheli, said: “It is great to see the success of the students studying A-levels on the Dolgellau and Pwllheli sites of Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor.

“We work very closely with both Bangor and Aberystwyth universities and are very grateful for the opportunities provided to the students. We wish all the students well with their further studies.”
