PROFESSOR Justin Rosenberg, a leading figure in International Relations in the UK, is to give the EH Carr Memorial Lecture in the Department of International Politics at Aberystwyth University today (Thursday, 29 October).
Hosted by the Department of International Politics in association with journal International Relations the lecture will start at 6pm in the Main Hall in the International Politics Building and all are welcome.
Professor Rosenburg’s lecture entitled, International Relations in the Prison of Political Science: is there a way out? will draw on the speaker’s latest research.
A leading figure in International Relations in the UK, Professor Rosenburg taught at the London School of Economics before moving to the University of Sussex in the late 1990s.
His work is best known for his critiques of realist and liberal approaches to International Relations, and for understanding the impact of the international system on social theory and historical change. His major works are The Empire of Civil Society and The Follies of Globalisation Theory.
"Justin Rosenberg has long been the most prominent exponent of the New Marxist approach to thinking about international relations in the UK. His particular focus has been on critiquing globalisation and on the importance of adopting a historical sociology perspective on ‘the international’.
He is a scholar of wide international repute,” said Prof Ken Booth, former EH Carr Professor and head of the Department of International Politics.
