YSGOL Dyffryn Cledlyn in Drefach, near Llanybydder, has been officially opened by Elin Jones AM.
The school opened its doors for the first time on 5 September, providing facilities for up to 120 primary school pupils and 25 pupils of nursery age.
Ms Jones said: “It’s a great privilege to officially open Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn.
“Being a former pupil of Ysgol Gynradd Llanwnnen myself, I’m proud that Llanwnnen is part of this new school. Each of the schools at Cwrtnewydd, Llanwnnen and Llanwenog provided an excellent standard of education. That legacy lives on in Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn, whose pupils now have the best facilities in addition to the excellent teaching and leadership they already enjoyed.
“This school is also an excellent asset for the wider community and is already developing into a hub of community activity.”
Ceredigion County Council leader Cllr Ellen ap Gwynn outlined the background to the development.
She said: “Ysgol Dyffryn Cledlyn was created through merging together three primary schools; Cwrtnewydd, Llanwnnen and Llanwenog. This new school will provide 21st century education for pupils and also enable the community to utilise the facility as a central hub for community and cultural events within the communities of Drefach, Cwrtnewydd, Llanwnnen and Llanwenog.”
She added: “I am especially grateful to the Welsh Government for their support via the 21st Century Schools and Education Programme. Thank you to all who were involved in the development project, for their hard work and contribution.”
