THE CHURCH in Wales has come under fire from a Bala councillor over plans to give the town’s new super school church status.

Gwynedd Council has suggested that the school’s future may be in doubt due to legal difficulties but Diocese bosses are adamant that they remain behind the project “100 per cent”.

Dilwyn Morgan said he was dismayed over the ongoing saga and wants to see the school given community status.

“It is great to see the building being developed and hear reassurances from Gwynedd Council and the Welsh Government that the construction is continuing as planned,” he said.

“I must say that as governor, parent, grandparent, county councillor and member of the community that my feelings, like many others, regarding the current situation is sad and concerning."

In response, a representative of the Diocese of St Asaph said: “We are surprised and saddened by Cllr Morgan’s comments.
