YSGOL Uwchradd Aberteifi had an A-Level Design and Technology Product Design project competing in the NSEC National Science and Engineering Competition finals at the Big Bang Fair this year.
From the 200 projects being judged on the first day five were selected for the Science and Engineering prizes respectively, including one by Cardigan student Oliver Phillips.
On the second day he had to present his project in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ type final to five celebrities involved with technology and engineering. Later on in the day in the impressive awards ceremony Oliver was announced that he had been highly commended and had come third in the Senior National UK Engineering Competition. Oliver did himself and the school proud.
Oliver’s project entitled Eco-Touch was a multi-functional phone and accessory holder for a bicycle which enabled the rider to use a phone for navigation and fitness purposes as well as having the function to attach different accessories, for example a light without taking up handlebar space.
